JOPLIN, Mo. – The Gorilla Volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision to Missouri Southern on Saturday evening (Nov. 5). Set scores were 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 25-23.
Despite the close scores, Missouri Southern held the Gorillas to a .185 attack percentage, while hitting .267 themselves. The Lions also outblocked the Gorillas 16.0 to 8.0.
Maggie Highberger again led the Gorillas with 18 kills. Lauren Regier put down 14 kills and two blocks. Zoey Qi was just short of double figures with nine kills and led the team with seven blocks. Noelle Dooley added three blocks.
Cal VanBuskirk recorded a double-double with 49 assists and 14 digs. Ashlen Schwartz added nine digs and Lauren Maisberger, 8.
Pitt State will close out the season next weekend. The team travels to Topeka for a 7 p.m. match up against Washburn on Friday (Nov. 11) and follows with a Saturday afternoon meeting with Emporia State at 1 p.m.
