PITTSBURG — Jacob Boylan ripped a base hit past the outstretched glove of University of Minnesota Duluth first baseman Alex Wojciechowski to score Jacob Durossette with the winning run as the Pittsburg State University baseball team scored a 7-6 victory Sunday (Feb. 21).
The Gorillas (5-3) posted their second straight walk off win over the Bulldogs (1-3) as they took the four-game series three games to one.
Pitt State rallied from 3-0 and 5-2 deficits Sunday. The Gorillas took a 6-5 lead when they plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI double by Boylan and a single by Christian Arnold.
UMD countered when Wojciechowski belted a one-out home run off Pitt State reliever Ty Rowe (2-0) to knot the score in the top of the ninth.
Durossette opened the bottom of the ninth with a single off the Bulldogs Jacob Heck (0-1). He advanced to second on Sam Falcon's sacrifice bunt and scored on Boylan's two-out hit.
Boylan went 3-for-6 with two RBI in the contest, while Cole Brecheisen went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Andrew Vogelbaugh, who belted three home runs including a walkoff shot in a 9-8 victory over the Bulldogs Saturday, went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
