Gorillas to Host Miners Wednesday


PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will host Missouri University of Science & Technology Wednesday (Mar. 16) at Al Ortolani Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. (CDT).

The Gorillas enter Wednesday's action with a 5-12 overall record. Pitt State will seek to halt a nine-game losing streak after being swept in a three-game MIAA series at St. Joseph, Mo., against Missouri Western State University last weekend.

The Miners bring a 10-5 record into Wednesda's match-up. MST opened the season 8-0 before battling through a four-game slide. The Miners have won two of their last three games.

Pitt State is batting .296 as a team and averaging 6.1 runs per game. The Gorillas have a 9.68 team ERA. Sophomore first baseman Andrew Vogelbaugh leads the Pitt State hitters. He is batting .415 with seven home runs and 24 RBI.

MST is hitting .311 as a team and scoring 6.7 runs per game. The Miners have a 4.04 team ERA.
