PITTSBURG — The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team broke open a 3-2 game by scoring 10 runs over the final three innings of play as the Bronchos defeated Pittsburg State University, 13-2, in eight innings to open an MIAA series against the Gorillas Thursday (Mar. 24).
Pitt State (6-17, 1-13 MIAA) and UCO (17-8, 9-5 MIAA) will continue the three-game set at 3 p.m. Friday (Mar. 25).
Jake Dyer went 4-for-5 with a double, home run and five RBI to pace the visiting Bronchos' 16-hit attack. Jon Kamies also doubled, tripled and drove in a pair of runs.
Bretty Macary accounted for two of Pitt State's five hits in the contest as UCO starter Daulton Leiker (3-0) limited the Gorillas to four hits and one earned run over seven innings of work.
Jacob Boylan and Chase Kilgore picked up Pitt State's two RBI in the contest.
