Baseball Series Moves Up a Day

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will open a three-game MIAA series against Missouri Western State University beginning Thursday (Mar. 10). The Gorillas will face the Griffons in a 2 p.m. game Thursday and then face off against MWSU in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Friday (Mar. 11) at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph, Mo.

The series orginally was scheduled for Friday through Saturday with single games each day, but the threat of weekend rainshowers in St. Joseph precipitated the schedule adjustment.

Pitt State enters the series 5-9 overall and 0-6 in MIAA play. The Gorillas, who will look to halt a six-game slide, are batting .303 on the season and scoring 6.3 runs per game while their opponents are hitting .361 and scoring 10.8 runs per game. The Pitt State pitching staff has a 10.40 ERA.

MWSU is 9-6 overall and 3-3 in MIAA. The Griffons, who have won four of their last five games, are batting .320 on the season and scoring 7.7 runs per game while their opponents are hitting .301 and scoring 7.3 runs per game. The MWSU pitching staff has a 6.39 ERA.
