ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State volleyball team lost to Lindenwood, 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-22), in its conference opener on Friday (September 23) evening.
Maggie Highberger led the Gorillas with eight kills and three blocks in the three-set match. Taylor Unke added six kills and two blocks. Ashlen Schwartz led the team with 13 digs. Cal Van Buskirk set the offense with 24 assists.
The Gorillas hit .137 as a team, compared to .286 for the Lions. Lindenwood had 45 kills and outblocked the Gorillas 6.0 to 4.0. Pitt State had fewer serving errors than the Lions, but was not able to record a service aces, while Lindenwood had two.
Pitt State returns to action on Saturday for a 7 p.m. match at No. 10 Central Missouri.
