PITTSBURG — The Lincoln University men's basketball team used a 15-0 run midway through the first half to turn a three-point deficit into a 12-point lead and the Blue Tigers never looked back in a 77-69 victory over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Jan. 12) at John Lance Arena.

Jaylon Smith made 10 of 14 shots from the field, including six 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 30 points for LU (13-6, 4-3 MIAA). Anthony Virdure and Maurice Mason added 16 and 11 points. The Blue Tigers shot 49 percent from the field in the game, making 25 of 51 attempts. Nearly half of LU's field goals came from distance as the Blue Tigers combined to make 12 3-pointers.

Elijah Gaines paced Pitt State (3-12, 1-6 MIAA) with 17 points, while Jaxon Holden aded 14. Jordan Phelps also finished in double figures with 11 points.

The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Jan. 14) when they host MIAA rival Lindenwood University at 3:30 p.m. (CST).
