PITTSBURG — Jordan London hit a 3-pointer with 51 seconds remaining in overtime to give the University of Central Oklahoma a 75-71 lead and Corbin Byford hit three of four free throws in the game's final 32 seconds to give the Bronchos a 78-71 win over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Jan. 26).
Jaxon Holden hit a 3-pointer with 8.8 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime for Pitt State (3-16, 1-10 MIAA). The Gorillas led by 11 points, at 47-36, with 15:07 to play in the second half, but UCO (12-6, 7-3 MIAA) stormed back with a 24-8 run over the next 10 minutes to work in front, 60-55, with 4:44 to go.
Isaiah Hick led three Gorillas in double figures with 16 points, while Holden added 14 and Brandon Clifford chipped in with 12. Holden made four of seven 3-pointers. His fourth long-range shot pulled Pitt State within a point, 72-71, with 1:14 remaining in OT, before London countered with his deep shot.
Byford scored a game-high 19 points to pace the Bronchos. Jake Hammond added 15 points, while Josh Holliday (11) and London (10) also scored in double figures.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Jan. 28) when the Gorillas host Northeastern State University at 3:30 p.m.
