MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Sparked by 23 bench points from Brenlee McPherson, the Pitt State women's basketball team rolled to an 80-54 win over Northwest Missouri on Saturday (Jan. 7) afternoon. The Gorillas improve to 14-1 overall and 6-0 in MIAA play.
McPherson was one of four Pitt State players in double figure, as she set a new career-high with her 23 points. She made 11 of 13 shots on the day, including one from long range. Madison Northcutt added 14 points and led the team with eight rebounds. Paige Lungwitz chipped in 12 with seven rebounds and Mikaela Burgess added 11 points.
Thirteen players saw action in the game for the Gorillas, with 11 of them scoring.
Pitt State set the pace early, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and led 35-20 at the half. The team scored at least 20 points in every quarter except the second. The Gorillas led by as many as 29 on a Burgess three with 3:35 remaining in the game.
The Gorillas will return home next week to face Lincoln on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Lindenwood on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
