TEXARKANA, Ark. — The Pittsburg State University football team stormed back from a 31-7 deficit with 1:03 to play in the second quarter and scored 41 unanswered points to win the 2017 Agent Barry Live United Bowl with a 48-31 victory over Arkansas Tech University Saturday (Dec. 2) at Razorback Stadium.
The Gorillas (8-4) end the season on a six-game winning streak after a 2-4 start to the year. The Wonder Boys wrap up their year with an 8-4 record as well.
Michael Rose carried the ball 21 times for 155 yards and three touchdowns in his final collegiate game, earning the game's Most Valuable Player honors.
John Roderique completed 21 o 28 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns after entering the game midway through the second quarter and the Gorillas trailing 23-0.
Lorenzo West caught eight passes for 85 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown grab. Brendan Franklin also had five grabs for 50 yards and an eight-yard score.
After holding possession of the football for less than 13 minutes in the first half, the Gorillas dominated the play clock in the final 30 minutes, holding the ball for 18:50.
The Gorillas finished the game with 556 total yards -- 290 yards on the ground and 266 yards through the air.
Darian Taylor and Josh Hornback made nine tackles apiece to lead the Gorillas. Demetrius Bernard also posted eight tackles and a quarterback sack.
Ty Reasnor completed 17 of 37 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns for the Wonder Boys. He was just six of 17 passing in the second half.
Bryan Allen carried the ball 22 times for 163 yards and two scores, but he managed just five carries for eight net yards in the second half.
