PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will travel to Edmond, Okla., to open a three-game MIAA series Friday (Mar. 24) against the University of Central Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. (CDT) at Wendell Simmons Field.
The Gorillas enter the series 10-17 overall and 4-9 in MIAA play. Pitt State dropped a 5-3 decision to Northeastern State University in its most recent action on Mar. 21.
The Bronchos will seek to halt a three-game slide when they open the series against the Gorillas. UCO dropped a 9-3 decision to Missouri Southern State University Wednesday (Mar. 22), after falling in back-to-back contests to Lindenwood University last weekend.
The Gorillas enter the series batting .304 as a team and scoring 7.41 runs per game. Pitt State has a 6.69 team ERA.
Junior second baseman Dallas Reed leads the squad with a .415 batting average. He has scored a team-leading 35 runs and recorded 10 doubles, four home runs and 28 RBIs on the year. Junior shortstop Colton Poge also is batting .389 with 11 doubles, seven home runs and a team-best 31 RBIs.
