RiverHawks Turn Back Gorillas, 11-6

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Northeastern State University baseball team scored 11 runs over the final five innings of play to overcome a 4-0 deficit and claim an 11-6 victory over Pittsburg State University Tuesday (Mar. 28).

The win helped the RiverHawks improve to 14-11 overall and 8-6 in MIAA play, while the Gorillas dropped to 12-19 overall and 6-11 in the MIAA.

Andrew Vogelbaugh, Ethan Schlesener and Cole Brecheisen each collected two hits in the game for Pitt State. Vogelbaugh had a two-run single as part of a four-run second inning. Schlesener hit a solo home run in the contest.

Cooper Gardner (4-1) took the loss in relief, allowing four runs in 2/3 inning of work. Starter Ethan Vanderpool, pitching on two days' rest, allowed just one hit in three innings of work before giving way to the Pitt State bullpen.

The Gorillas will return to action Friday (Mar. 31) when they begin a three-game home series against MIAA rival Northwest Missouri State University.
