PITTSBURG — Andrew Vogelbaugh homered twice as part of the Pittsburg State University baseball team's 19-hit attack leading the Gorillas to a 16-5 run-rule victory over the University of Nebraska-Kearney Friday (Apr. 14).
Pitt State (16-22, 10-14 MIAA) posted its fourth straight win and will go for the series sweep of UNK (13-25, 6-19 MIAA) Saturday at 1 p.m. (CDT) at Al Ortolani Field.
Ethan Schlesener belted a three-run home run as part of a six-run fourth inning as the Gorillas rallied from a 5-4 deficit to take control of the game. Chase Kilgore doubled three times and drove in three runs in the contest.
Vogelbaugh hit solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings. His fifth-inning shot followed a Hunter Clanin inside-the-park home run. Brett Macary went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in the contest, while T.J. Martin went 3-for-3 with four runs scored.
Nick Brown (1-2) tossed five innings of one-hit relief to pick up his first victory of the season. He issued three walks and registered a season-best 10 strikeouts.
