PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team's weekend series against Fort Hays State University has been pushed back due to the weather. The Gorillas and Tigers now will meet Monday (May 1) in a 3 p.m. doubleheader and then wrap up the series with a 3 p.m. game Tuesday (May 2).
Pitt State enters the series 20-24 overall and 14-16 in MIAA play. The Gorillas are tied for eighth place in the MIAA standings with the University of Central Oklahoma. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the 2017 MIAA Postseason Tournament at Joplin, Mo.
FHSU is 10-33 overall, 3-27 in MIAA play and last in the conference standings. The Tigers snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over the University of Nebraska-Kearney Wednesday (Apr. 26).
