PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team posted an emphatic victory over Fort Hays State University Friday (Oct. 26) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court. The Gorillas defeated the Tigers 25-12, 25-18, 26-24.
The win helped Pitt State improve to 18-10 overall and 7-8 in MIAA play, while FHSU fell to 8-19 overall and 2-13 in the MIAA.
Lauren Regier led a balanced offensive attack for the Gorillas with 11 kills, while Meg Auten added 10 kills. Brianna Richard posted 32 assists and Lauren Maisberger recorded 12 digs.
Pitt State outhit FHSU .212 to .056 and posted 41 kills compared to 27 by the Tigers.
Azlyn Cassaday registered a team-leading 10 kills for FHSU.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Oct. 27) with a home match against the #6 University of Nebraska-Kearney at 2 p.m. (CDT).
