MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team pushed Northwest Missouri State University but the Bearcats fought off the Gorillas challenge for a straight set win. NWMSU took the match 25-18, 30-28, 25-23.
Maddy Bruder registered a match-high 13 kills for NWMSU (15-5, 7-2 MIAA), which hit .244 in the match. Morgan Lewis added ten kills, while Olivia Nowakowski posted 15 digs to lead the Bearcats defense.
Pitt State (15-7, 4-5) MIAA got a team-leading 12 kills from Lauren Regier and 10 more from Meg Auten. Brianna Richard recorded 37 assists for the Gorillas offense, while Lauren Maisberger collected 14 digs from the libero position.
The Gorillas will return to action next weekend when Pitt State hosts Lindenwood Friday (Oct. 12) and Central Missouri Saturday (Oct. 13).
