KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team outscored Pittsburg State University, 15-1, over the final 4:51 of the third quarter to turn a one-point deficit into a 13-point advantage. The Dragons carried that surge to a 66-55 victory over the Gorillas in day two action of the Central Region Challenge Saturday (Nov. 10) at Municipal Auditorium.
Maya Williams led three Pitt State (1-1) players in double figures with 14 points. Kaylee DaMitz (13) and Meghan Maher (11) also scored in double figures. Williams and DaMitz also shared the team rebound lead with six apiece.
MSU Moorhead (2-0) got game highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds from Megan Hintz, while Kiley Borowicz added 16 points.
The Gorillas shot just 33.9 percent from the field in the game, making 21 of 62 shots overall.
Pitt State will return to action Nov. 16 when the Gorillas make their home debut at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court against Southeastern State University at 11 a.m. (CST).
