LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to seven games with a 59-42 victory over St. Edward's University Tuesday (Dec. 18) at the Las Vegas Hoopla.
Freshman Megan Scott scored a game-high 15 points on seven of nine shooting in the contest as the Gorillas pulled away in the third quarter after holding a slim 30-26 halftime advantage against the Hilltoppers.
Athena Alvarado added 12 points for Pitt State (8-1), which posted its seventh consecutive victory. Shelby Lopez added seven points and a team-leading six rebounds for the Gorillas, who outscored SEU 14-5 in the pivotal third quarter.
The Hilltoppers (8-4) got 11 points and nine rebounds from Isabel Hernandez, while Maryam Wilcher added 10 points.
