Gorillas to Face Busy Week of Baseball Action


PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will face a busy week of action starting with a road game against Missouri Southern State University Wednesday (Apr. 11). The Gorillas then will travel to Maryville, Mo., for a three-game series against Northwest Missouri State University starting Thursday (Apr. 12).

The Gorillas and Lions will meet at 6 p.m. (CST) at Joplin, Mo., Wednesday. Pitt State is 23-13 overall and 15-9 in MIAA play heading into Wednesday's action, while MSSU comes in at 22-13 overall and 10-11 in conference play.

Following Wednesday's game, the Gorillas will travel to Maryville to begin a doubleheader against the Bearcats at Noon Thursday. The two teams will complete their three-game series with a 1 p.m. contest Friday (Apr. 13). The Gorillas and Bearcats originally were scheduled to play single games Friday through Sunday but the schedule was adjusted due to the threat of weekend rain.

NWMSU is 19-15 overall and 14-6 in MIAA play heading into a Wednesday road game against Missouri Western State University.
