RiverHawks Take 9-6 Decision From Gorillas Tuesday

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Northeastern State University baseball team capitalized on a two-out error to plate four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie and pull away for an eventual 9-6 win over Pittsburg State University Tuesday (Apr. 17) at Rousey Field.

Pitt State (27-14, 19-10 MIAA) had battled back from a 4-0 deficit to NSU (22-16, 14-12 MIAA) to knot the score at 4-4 thanks to a four-run top of the sixth. Josh Whisler delivered a two-run single as part of the four-run outburst. Hunter Clanin and Jake Durrossette also added RBI hits in the frame.

Clanin and Cole Brecheisen each hit solo home runs in the top of the eighth inning to complete the Gorillas scoring.

Pitt State will enjoy an eight-day layoff before returning to action Apr. 25 with a 6 p.m. home game against Missouri Southern State University.
