Box Score BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Southwest Baptist University baseball team scored six runs in the eighth inning to erase a 6-1 deficit en route to a 9-8 victory over Pittsburg State University Friday (May 4) at Dodson Field. The Gorillas and Bearcats will continue their three-game MIAA series with a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday.
The loss dropped Pitt State to 29-17 overall and 21-13 in MIAA play. Southwest Baptist improved to 17-31 overall and 11-23 in the MIAA.
The Gorillas scored six runs in the seventh frame to build a 6-1 advantage before tacking on one run in the eighth and ninth inning to tie the game up. Reece Garvie had three hits to lead Pitt State's offensive attack, while Colton Pogue added three more hits.
Cody White (2-1) allowed three hits over 2/3 innings of relief work to take the loss for the Gorillas.Â
