MEMPHIS, TENN. — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team collected a pair of victories on Friday (Aug. 24) to open the season at the Christian Brothers University Invitational.

The Gorillas debuted with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 26-24) win over Kentucky Wesleyan and followed with a 3-1 victory (25-19, 22-25, 25-13, 25-15) against Arkansas-Monticello.
Mia Bledsoe lead the offense with 12 kills on 23 attempts followed by Meg Auten with 9 kills against Kentucky Wesleyan.
In the second match of the day, Pitt State's strong offense late in the match pushed the Gorillas past the Cotton Blossoms to win in four sets.

Meg Auten led the Gorillas with 15 kills against UAM, while Lauren Regier and Taylor Unke added 10 kills apiece. Camryn Blanton recorded a career-high 45 assists on the match, while Emily Regier added six blocks to help pace the Gorilla defense.
The Gorillas will be back in action Saturday (Aug. 25) at 11:30 a.m. against Maryville University, followed by a fourth and final match at 7 p.m. against host Christian Brothers University.
