MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Pittsburg State University volleyball team wrapped up action in the Christian Brothers University Invitational Saturday (Aug. 25) by recording a pair of victories for a second straight day.
The Gorillas opened the day with a three-set sweep over Maryville University, taking the match 25-17, 25-14, 25-11. The Gorillas finished the day with a thrilling five-set victory over Christian Brothers University, 25-17, 19-25, 52-22, 21-25, 15-13.
Against MU, Lauren Regier paced the Gorillas with 10 kills, while Taylor Unke added four kills and five blocks. Lauren Dunn chipped in with a team-high 22 digs and four service aces.
Lauren Regier recorded 24 kills in the match against CBU, while Meg Auten tallied 14 kills. Camryn Blanton collected 47 assists from the setter position and added 19 digs on defense.
The Gorillas will return home to compete Friday and Saturday (Aug.31 – Sept. 1) at the Pittsburg State University Classic. PSU will face off against Chadron State (1 p.m.) and Cameron (5 p.m.) Friday and will open Saturday's action against Christian Brothers.
