KEARNEY, Neb. — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team dropped a straight set decision to No. 6 University of Nebraska-Kearney Saturday (Sept. 22). The Lopers defeated the Gorillas 25-9, 25-12, 25-21.
UNK (16-1, 4-1 MIAA) got a team-high 9 kills from Anna Squiers and Kendall Schroer, while Julianne Jackson added 8 kills. Lindsey Smith added 34 assists for the Lopers, with Ellie McDonnell compiling 16 digs.
Pitt State (14-4, 3-2 MIAA) had 24 kills on 102 attempts hitting 0.029 as a team. Lauren Regier complied the team-high 9 kills and Meg Auten followed with 5 kills. Brianna Richard recorded 15 assists with Camryn Blanton contributing 6. Lauren Dunn led the defense with 17 digs on the match.
Pitt State will return back to action next weekend (Sept. 28-29) with a pair of home matches against Emporia State (Friday) and Washburn (Saturday) at John Lance Arena.
