PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team battled back to defeat Emporia State University Friday. Pitt State took the match 21-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-17, 15-9.
Tatum Graves and Yuchen Du registered a team-high 15 kill for ESU (7-11, 2-4 MIAA). Emma Dixon added 24 assists, while Allie Maloney posted 24 digs to lead the Hornets defense.
The Gorillas, who hit .167 overall, battled, back from a 0-2 start to take the next three sets 25-20, 25-17 and 15-9.

Pitt State (15-4, 4-2 MIAA) had three players record double digits kills, Lauren Regier (15), Emily Regier (14), and Morgan Henning (10). Camryn Blanton collected 45 assists from the setter position, while Lauren Dunn paced the Gorilla defense with 29 digs.
The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Sept. 29) when the Gorillas host No. 13 Washburn University at John Lance Arena at 2 p.m.
