EDMOND, OKLA. — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team collected a pair of victories on Friday (Sept. 7) to open the GAC/MIAA Crossover.
The Gorillas debuted with a 3-1 (26-24, 25-22, 18-25, 25-17) win over Southern Nazarene and followed with a 3-1 victory (22-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-20) against Northwestern Oklahoma.
Emily Regier put down 14 kills for the Gorillas against SNU with three players posting 2 blocks apiece – Regier, Lauren Regier and Morgan Henning.
In the second match of the day, Pitt State's strong offense after the delay in play pushed the Gorillas past the Rangers to win in four sets.
Morgan Henning led the Gorillas with 11 kills against NWOSU, while Lauren Regier added 10 kills. Camryn Blanton recorded 39 assists on the match, while Lauren Dunn added 14 digs to help pace the Gorilla defense.
Pitt State will return to action in the MIAA/GAC Crossover Saturday with a 10 a.m. match at Shawnee, Okla., against Oklahoma Baptist University. The Gorillas will close out the two-day tournament with a 6 p.m. match against East central University
