TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Maya Williams led four Pittsburg State University women's basketball players in double figures with a career high 19 points as the Gorillas won their fourth straight contest with a 76-69 road decision against Northeastern State University Saturday (Jan. 19).
Williams made six of 10 shots from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers. She also converted five of seven free throw attempts.
Shelby Lopez added 18 points for the Gorillas (15-2, 7-1 MIAA), while Athena Alvarado (11) and Meghan Maher (10) also scored in double figures. Alvarado posted a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Pitt State overcame a 41 percent shooting performance (26-63) by hitting eight 3-pointers in the contest and 16 of 21 charity shots.
NSU (4-13, 1-7 MIAA) converted 49 percent of its shots (25-53) but the RiverHawks made just four of 14 attempts from beyond the arc. Joi Bertrand paced NSU with 18 points.
