PITTSBURG -- Javion Blake scored a team-leading 21 points as the Washburn University men's basketball team defeated Pittsburg State University, 92-82, Saturday (Jan. 26) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
The win helped the Ichabos improve to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in MIAA action, while the Gorillas dropped to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in the MIAA.
Blake led four WU players in double figures, scoring 15 of his 21 points in the second half. David Salach addd 19 points while Tyas Martin (12) and Sevon Witt (11) also scored in double figures. The Ichabods made 11 3-pointers in the contest and benefited from 16 offensive rebounds.
Pitt State's Donovan Franklin led all scorers with 28 points on 10 of 19 shooting. He made four of six 3-point field goals, while the rest of the squad struggled from deep going 1-for-12 from beyond the arc.
Grant Lozoya posted a double-double with 26 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. He also dished out four assists. Christian Edmondson (11) and Trenton Clayton (10) also finished in double figures.
