JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Shelby Lopez scored a career-high 30 points to help spark the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 98-68 road win over Lincoln University Thursday (Jan 3) at Jason Gym.
The Gorillas (11-1, 3-0 MIA) rushed out to a 30-6 first quarter lead against the Blue Tigers (9-3, 1-2 MIAA) to take control early and cruise to the squad's 10th consecutive victory of the season.
Lopez made 10 of 16 shots from the floor in the game, including seven of 12 3-point field goals. Kaylee DaMitz added 16 points while Maya Williams and Tristan Gegg finished with 12 points apiece.
Pitt State shot 48.6 percent from the field in the game, making 34 of 70 shots including 12 3-pointers. The Gorillas also converted 18 of 26 free throws in the contest.
Bre Coleman paced the Blue Tigers with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Jan. 5) when the Gorillas take on Lindenwood University at 1:30 p.m. (CST) at St. Charles, Mo. The Lions defeated Missouri Southern State University, 79-71, Thursday.
