WICHITA — The Newman University baseball scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally from a 3-2 deficit en route to a 7-3 victory over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Feb. 14) at McCarthy Field.
The Jets (3-2) got a go-ahead two-run home run from Mason Nagle with one out in the sixth off reliever Dante Richardson (0-1). Ty Herrenbruck had given Pitt State (4-3) a 3-2 lead in the top half of the frame with a run-scoring single that plated Tyson Cushman.
The Jets added two insurance runs in the seventh and another run in the eighth for the game's final margin.
Marc Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Gorillas' nine-hit offensive attack. Reece Garvie also went 2-for-4 with a double, while Herrenbruck drove in a pair of runs in the contest.
