PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team broke open a 1-0 game with a six-run third inning and the Gorillas cruised to a 13-3 victory over Southwest Baptist University Sunday (Feb. 24).
Brendan Stanek (2-0) went the distance on the mound for Pitt State against SBU (6-6, 1-2 MIAA). Stanek allowed ten hits in the contest on six 1/3 innings of work.
 The Gorillas offense rapped out 13 runs on 14 hits in the contest. Pitt State (7-5, 2-1 MIAA) capitalized on seven walks as well as three SBU errors.
 Alex Achtermann collected four hits on two doubles and two singles. Achtermann, Ty Herrenbruck, and Clint Allen scored two runs apiece. Chaz Burgess went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI's.
