PITTSBURG -- The MIAA leading Fort Hays State University women's basketball team jumped out to a double digit first quarter lead and rode that early momentum to a 78-53 road win over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Feb. 7).
The Tigers (20-1, 11-1 MIAA) got a team-leading 17 points from Taylor Rolfs, while Tatyana Legette posted a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Lanie Page (14) and Belle Barbieri (11) also scored in double figures for No. 5 ranked FHSU.
The Gorillas (17-5, 9-4 MIAA) shot just 35.1 percent from the field in the game (20-57), including a 3-for-19 outing from 3-point range. Maya Williams scored a game-high 18 points in a reserve role for Pitt State. Athena Alvarado added 11 points for the Gorillas.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Feb. 9) when the Gorillas host the University of Nebraska-Kearney at 1:30 p.m.
