PITTSBURG — Kanon Koster hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:45 to play in the game and the University of Nebraska Kearney men's basketball held on down the stretch for a 65-63 road win over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Feb. 9) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Pitt State (14-9, 7-7 MIAA) led 57-51 with 7:30 remaining in the contest, but UNK (8-14, 3-10 MIAA) outscored the Gorillas 14-6 down the stretch to send the home squad to its fifth straight defeat.
Demetrius Levarity scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Gorillas. Grant Lozoya added 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. A.J. Walker also finished in double figures with 10 points for Pitt State.
A.J. Jackson led four UNK players in double figures with 17 points. Austin Luger (14), Koster (13) and Weston Baker Magrath (12) also finished in double figures.
Pitt State played the game without the services of Trenton Clayton and Donovan Franklin. Franklin missed his second straight game with an injury.
