EDMOND, Okla. — The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team rallied from a 4-2 deficit by scoring three unearned runs to claim a 5-4 victory over Pittsburg State University Friday (Mar. 22) at Wendell Simmons Field.
The Bronchos (14-9, 7-6 MIAA) and the Gorillas (13-11, 7-6 MIAA) will resume their three-game MIAA series with a 3 p.m. (CDT) game Saturday.
Pitt State scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to turn an early 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 advantage. Levi McLaughlin delivered a two-run single in the frame, while John Oliver belted a two-run home run to cap the big inning.
Brad Kinsey limited UCO to three runs on six hits with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work for the Gorillas. Tanner Lane (2-3) took the loss, allowing an unearned run over the final 1 2/3 innings of work.
