EMPORIA, Kan. — The Emporia State University softball team swept a doubleheader from Pittsburg State University Sunday (Mar. 31) at the Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia, Kan. The Lady Hornets defeated the Gorillas, 3-2 and 5-1.
Pitt State dropped to 16-17 overall and 4-4 in MIAA play, while Emporia State improved to 10-17 overall, and 4-4 in the MIAA.
Alicia Lowrey led the Gorillas in game one, going 2-for-3 with a RBI single in the fourth inning. Halle Brin (9-7) was charged with four earned runs in 6 1/3 innings of work for the Gorillas.
In the nightcap, the Lady Hornets limited Pitt State to just four hits on the game. Makenzie Goswick led the Gorillas going 2-for-3, while Keelah Griffith scored on a wild pitch.
Pitt State will be back in action on Monday (Apr. 1) for a doubleheader against Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. The first-pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
