EMPORIA, Kan. — The Pittsburg State University baseball team utilized a six-run seventh inning to help claim a 7-4 road win over Emporia State University Sunday (Apr. 14) at Glennen Field.
The Gorillas (20-17, 13-11 MIAA) trailed the Hornets (21-15, 15-9 MIAA), 2-1, heading into the pivotal seventh frame before Pitt State rallied to take the lead.
Pitt State broke loose for six runs on five hits in the frame. John Oliver, Chaz Burgess, Greyson Pinkett and Ty Herrenbruck all had RBI hits in the frame. Oliver and Pinkett delivered run-scoring singles, while Burgess and Herrenbruck smacked extra base hits.
Brendan Stanek (3-1) allowed two earne runs in 6.0 innings of work, scattering five hits and fanning four batters. Tanner Lane recorded his sixth save of the season by recording the final three outs of the contest.
