WICHITA -- The Newman University baseball team scored in each of the first three innings to build an early lead and ride that momentum to a 5-2 non-conference victory over Pittsburg State University Tuesday (Apr. 2).
The Jets (13-16) scored one run in the bottom of the first, two more runs in the second inning and another run in the third to build a 4-1 lead against the Gorillas (14-16).
Koby Milner led NU going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Paul Rupnik also went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Jets. Blake Thunberg (1-1) earned the win in relief for the Jets.
John Oliver went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Gorillas. PSU starter Tyler McGrew (0-1) took the loss.
