Lions Take Series Finale From Gorillas, 8-4

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Missouri Southern State University baseball team broke open a 3-3 game with three runs in the bottom of the third inning and rode that momentum to an 8-4 victory over Pittsburg State University Sunday (Apr. 28) at Warren Turner Field.

The Lions improved to 30-16 overall and 21-9 in MIAA play with the victory, while the Gorillas dropped to 25-19 overall (17-13 MIAA).

Caleb Cox paced Pitt State's offensive attack going 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Ty Herrenbruck also went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Gorillas. Brendan Stanek (3-2) took the loss on the mound, allowing seven runs, six earned, in 2 2/3 innings of work.
