Gorillas, Bearcats to Meet at CommunityAmerica Ballpark Tuesday


PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will face Northwest Missouri State University in a non-conference game Tuesday (Apr. 9) at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, home of the Kansas City T-Bones, at Kansas City, Kan. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. (CDT).

The Gorillas are 17-16 on the season. Pitt State swept three games from Northeastern State University in an MIAA series last weekend at Al Ortolani Field. NWMSU is 17-15 overall. The Bearcats have won six straight games including a series sweep against Fort Hays State University over the weekend.

Pitt State took two of three games in an MIAA series against NWMSU at Al Ortolani Field Mar. 15-17.

The Gorillas enter Tuesday's action batting .245 as a team and scoring 5.6 runs per game. Pitt State pitchers have a 4.12 team ERA with 278 strikeouts in 290.7 innings of work.

Junior outfielder Chaz Burgess leads the squad with a .337 batting average. He's scored 14 runs, hit six doubles and four home runs and driven in 17 runs. Junior catcher Greyson Pinkett also is batting .309 with 14 runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and nine RBIs.
