LUBBOCK, Texas — Entering with their 4-0 record, the Pittsburg State Gorillas Volleyball team traveled to Lubbock for the 2019 Chap Classic Tournament. The Gorillas fell to host Lubbock Christian University in four sets, 26-28, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-23.
Pitt State fell to 4-1 on the season after the loss. The Gorillas will close out their doubleheader of the second day of a three-day invitational with a 5 p.m. tilt with Dixie State. The Trailblazers are now 3-3 on the season and a two-game winning streak as they, opened the Chap Classic with two four-set wins. They defeated University of Texas-Permian Ba-sin (25-18, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-14) and Southwestern Oklahoma State University (26-28, 25-20, 25-11 and 25-22).
Erika Ivkov paced the Pitt State offense with a team-leading 15 kills, while Claire Sandvig added nine kills. Ivkov was also the digs leader for the match as she had 26 while Marissa Bates had 22. Morgan Henning had three blocks.
