PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team claimed a 3-0 victory over Midwestern State University in day two action of the Gorilla Invitational Friday (Sept. 6) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court. The Gorillas defeated the Mustangs, 25-14, 25-21, 25-23.
Pitt State improved to 2-0 on the season win the victory against MSU. The Gorillas will close out the three-day invitational with a 4:30 p.m. match against Western Colorado University and a 7 p.m. match against Southwest Baptist University.
Erika Ivkov paced the Pitt State offense with a team-leading eight kills, while Claire Sandvig and Meg Auten added seven kills apiece. Morgan Henning also chipped in with six kills as the Gorillas outhit the Mustangs with a .300 percentage compared to .147 for the visiting squad.
