PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team capped an unbeaten weekend to open the 2019 campaign with a pair of wins in the Gorilla Invitational Saturday (Sept. 7) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Pitt State (4-0) claimed a pair of four-set wins over Western Colorado University (25-11, 25-19, 20-25, 25-17) and Southwest Baptist University (25-15, 21-25, 26-24, 25-21) to punctuate the opening weekend of the season.

Erika Ivkov recorded a team-leading 14 kills against WCU and a match-high 19 kills against SBU. Morgan Henning added 12 kills against the Bearcats and 10 against the Mountaineers.

Brianna Richard compiled 77 assists in the two matches combined, including 41 against WCU. Emily Regier chipped in with eight kills and five blocks against the Mountaineers. Morgan Bates finished the day with 26 digs, 15 against WCU.
