EDMOND, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team dropped a pair of games on opening day of the 2020 season Friday (Jan. 31) at the Edmond First Pitch Classic. The Gorillas were shut out in both contests, falling 14-0 to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and 6-0 to Emporia State University.

Pitt State (0-2) managed just four hits on the day. SWOSU limited the Gorillas to three hits in a seven-inning run rule victory while ESU held the Gorillas to just one hit later in the day.

SWOSU scored in every inning except the sixth, plating three in the top of the first, four runs in the second and three more in the third to rush out to a 10-0 lead. ESU got three runs in the second inning in the day's second game.

The Gorillas will continue action in the First Pitch Classic with a 4 p.m. game Saturday (Feb. 1) against Henderson State University.
