HAYS, Kan. — Jah-Kobe Womack led a balanced Pittsburg State University men's basketball team with 18 points as the Gorillas pulled away for a 79-68 road win over Fort Hays State University Monday (Jan. 6) at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
Pitt State (5-8, 1-3 MIAA) snapped a seven-game losing streak by shooting 58.0 percent from the field in the game (29-50). The Gorillas knocked down 11 3-point field goals, making 52.4 percent of their long range shots (11-21).
Womack finished with a game high 18 points on seven of 13 shooting in the contest. A.J. Walker added 15 points and a game high eight assists, while Dejon Waters Jr. (12), Christian Edmondson (12), Ray Elliott (12) and Antonio Givens II (10) all scored in double figures as well.
FHSU (6-6, 0-4 MIAA) got a team-leading 17 points from Jared Vitztum and 13 points from Nyjee Wright.
The Gorillas will return to action Thursday (Jan. 9) when they entertain MIAA rival Newman University at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
