WICHITA, Kan. — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team overcame a 10-point first half deficit and rallied in the game's final 20 minutes for a 72-70 road win over Newman University Tuesday (Nov. 24) at Fugate Gymnasium.

The victory helped the Gorillas remain unbeaten and improve to 2-0 on the young season, while the Jets stayed winless (0-2, 0-2 MIAA) in the early goings of the 2020-21 campaign.

Bobby Arthur-Williams Jr. led four Pitt State players in double figures with 17 points in the contest. Antonio Givens II added 16 points and six rebounds, while Ike Moore (13) and Martin Vogts (10) also finished in double figures.

The Gorillas overcame a 39 percent shooting night from the field (23-59) by making six of 10 3-point field goals in the second half. Pitt State limited Newman to 37.3 percent shooting in the contest (22-59).

The Gorillas will resume their three-game road swing Saturday (Nov. 28) when they travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to take on the University of Central Missouri at 3 p.m. (CST).
