WICHITA, Kan. — The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team utilized a balanced offensive attack to help propel the Gorillas to a 61-49 road win over Newman University Tuesday (Nov. 24) at Fugate Gymnasium.
Kaylee DaMitz led four Pitt State players in double figures with 13 points in the contest. Dana Johnson added a double double with 12 points and a game high 10 rebounds for the Gorillas, while Tristan Gegg and Jayme Jackson added 10 points apiece.
Pitt State (1-1, 1-1 MIAA) overcame a 3-for-22 (.136) shooting night from 3-point range by connecting on 22 of 40 shots inside the arc.
Faith Mason-Vestal led all scorers with 13 points to pace Newman (1-1, 1-1 MIAA). The Jets shot just 29 percent from the field in the game, making 18 of 62 attempts.
The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Nov. 28) when they travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to meet the University of Central Missouri at 1 p.m.
