PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team scored runs in three consecutive innings to overcome a 6-4 deficit and claim a 7-6 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston in the series opener Friday (Feb. 14) at Al Ortolani Field.
Greyson Pinkett tripled and scored the go ahead run on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Colton Larkins nailed down the win by recording the final three outs in the ninth inning for his first save of the season. David Henderson (1-1) pitched 3 1/3 innings of one-hit relief with six strikeouts to earb the victory for Pitt State (3-5).
Tyson Cushman went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Gorillas, while Tyler Pittman went 3-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored. Blain Ohlmeier also scored twice in the game.
The Gorillas and UMC (1-1) will continue the series with a 1 p.m. (CST) game Saturday (Feb. 15).
