Gorillas Holds Off Bearcats Late For 60-54 Win

PITTSBURG -- Tristan Gegg scored a team high 24 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 60-54 victory over Northwest Missouri State University Saturday (Feb. 15) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Pitt State (14-9, 10-5 MIAA) led by as many as 12 points in the game but had to fight off NWMSU (11-13, 6-9 MIAA) down the stretch for the win. Gegg and Erin Davis combined to make six straight free throws in the game's final 20 seconds to seal the win.

Both teams struggled shooting the ball in the game. The Gorillas made 18 of 54 shots (.333), while the Bearcats converted 17 of 53 attempts (.321). The Gorillas compensated by making 21 of 23 free throws.
