BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Pittsburg State University softball team wrapped up action in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic with a pair of close losses Sunday (Feb. 16). The Gorillas dropped a 6-3 decision to the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a 4-2 decision to Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Against UMSL, Pitt State (3-11) took a 3-1 lead to the seventh inning only to see the Tritons plate five runs to push in front. Keelah Griffith belted a two-run home run in the fourth inning that gave the Gorillas a 3-1 advantage at the time.
Against SOSU, the Savage Storm scored a run in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth inning to break open a 1-1 game. Mareika Turpen belted a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning for the Gorillas.
