PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team capitalized on a seven-run fifth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit en route to an 11-5 win over Fort Hays State University Saturday (Feb. 29) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Gorillas (9-7, 1-1 MIAA) and the TIgers (11-7, 1-1 MIAA) will wrap up the three-game series with a Noon (CST) game Sunday (Mar. 1).
Ryan Koval belted a grandslam home run as part of Pitt State's seven-run fifth inning. Tyson Cushman also went 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored in the game. Chandler Mauldin (2-2) earned the win with an effective start on the mound. He scattered six hits in 6.0 innings pitched and registered three strikeouts.
